Show notes

Core Rules of Coach Communication Be Professional at All Times Every message is an evaluation. Use proper grammar, respectful tone, and clear structure. No slang, emojis, or hype.

Be Honest and Accurate Never exaggerate measurables, offers, or interest. Coaches verify everything, and credibility once lost is hard to regain.

Be Concise and Clear Coaches are busy. Say what matters quickly—who you are, what position you play, why you’re reaching out, and where to find your film.

Personalize Your Outreach Show that you’ve done your homework. Reference the program, position coach, scheme, or academic fit. Generic messages get ignored.

Respect the Recruiting Calendar Silence often equals rules, not disinterest. Do not spam messages or force communication during restricted periods.

Control the Narrative Present yourself as prepared, coachable, and dependable. Your communication should reflect how you’ll operate in the program.

Follow Up the Right Way Follow up politely and at appropriate intervals. Persistence matters—desperation does not.

Track Everything Recruiting is a process. Keep records of who you contacted, when, and what the response was.

Let Advocates Help High school coaches and trusted evaluators often carry more weight than direct athlete outreach.

When in Doubt, Pause If you’re unsure whether something is allowed or appropriate—wait and verify.

Bottom Line: How you communicate often determines whether a coach keeps watching or moves on.
